So Not OK in So Many Ways…

I am deeply embarrassed to be sharing this but I can’t help myself. If you haven’t heard of it already, you might want to visit the website that pretty much everyone will be talking about real soon: PeopleofWalmart.com.
It’s just not not right to make fun of people like this. I know. But, when I came across this site last night I was, at the same time, completely appalled and folded over laughing. Yes, this is happening in our very own country.

The really admirable part of this website (as if that was of any relevance) is that it was launched less [...]

Photo Effects Fun Without Photoshop Knowledge – Part 1

By Shari Bonnin, Contributing Editor
Maybe you’re like me and haven’t quite got the whole layers, cropping, lassoing and all other Photoshop intricacies and just want to find easy ways to achieve certain effects with photos or maybe you are great at Photoshop but want some shortcuts.
Recently I’ve become very nostalgic because of Facebook; re-connecting with many old friends, digging into my old photo boxes, pulling out my Polaroids and thinking how cool that would be to be able to have that look again. Well, I’ve done some research, and here are some *FREE* photo effect websites that can help [...]

Vacuum Fills the Void – At Last!

So, my husband and my kids, and certain friends are quite certain that I have a “thing”, that I am obsessed, fixated on… vacuum cleaners. The stick, cordless, kind of vacuum. I know. So NOT succulent. “But if they made one that worked…” is my defense.
And, I know that I’m not the only one. While at the vet’s office the other day, I spotted one the assistant’s emerging from a consultation room with her little stick vac. I had to ask about it. The whole front office crew got in on the conversation or, shall I say, the lament. We [...]

Primp Your Car

When I moved to the US from Canada about 15 years ago, I was delighted to see how every holiday became an opportunity to decorate everything in sight for the specific occasion… House, office, personal attire (The fact that I quickly grew tired of this custom is a whole other affair). But still, I always wondered why, aside from the occasional holiday wreath on the truck grill or the wedding froufrou ornamentation, cars were not decorated.
But here comes along Tonya of TonyaBug who takes her vehicle adornments very seriously – in a totally fun and colorful way. And thank [...]

These Shoes are Made for Walking

Comfortable shoes. Oh, the images that conjures. Not pretty ones for the most part. For me, vanity dictates that “comfortable” shoes come in the form of flats (I could never do the sneaker thing). I was thrilled when ballet flats came back in style a couple of years ago. Here’s a shoe that looks good with short skirts, long skirts and cropped pants. Love ‘em. Except that they’re not always comfortable. The sole is too thin, too rigid or the heel too slim…
I just bought my second pair of Me Too flats, now officially my favorite brand of “comfortable” [...]

The Definitive Guide to Waste-Free Lunch Supplies

School and routine are starting again. Time to educate our children on new environmental practices too. Some stats to get us motivated from WasteFreeLunches.org: “it has been estimated that on average a school-age child using a disposable lunch generates 67 pounds of waste per school year. That equates to 18,760 pounds of lunch waste for just one elementary school”.
This guide brings cool ideas to help us convert to easy & convenient litter-free meals:
