Aubergine is my New Black

Aubergine, Eggplant, Mauve, Plum, Purple, Mulberry, Pomegranate, Violet… Whatever you call it, this color rocks!

I bought this bag, pretty much as a last ditch attempt to replace my former one that was falling apart.  I hardly have time to shop, so scouring the malls to find my new favorite handbag was not an option at the time .  I have one handbag. Well, ok, I have several, but is really only ever use one. I don’t have the time either to change handbags every morning. So, I do just use one handbag until that handbag is no more, cast away for being worn for having served me too well.

I have rediscovered Cole Haan (short tangent here) a few years ago when they came out with the GSeries and fell in love with their new look.  I think that it’s at the affordable end of luxury goods, plus they don’t plaster their logo all over their designs (see? It’s hardly discernible on the photo). I’ve always said that if I’m going to walk around with huge logos on my stuff, that implies that I’m advertising YOUR brand, then, you’d have to pay ME. Not the other way around. Anyhoo, Cole Haan is subtle about their logo display and I like that.  The simple point of all this is that I bought the handbag that you see below while I was shopping at the Off 5th outlet with an out of town guest (always bring out of towners to the outlet malls). And, being on the lookout to replace my previous war torn Cole Haan, I spotted this little piece. I questioned the color ( apparently so did everyone else, or it wouldn’t have been on that shelf!). But the bargain basement pricing had me give it careful consideration. I did take it home and looooooove it. The color absolutely goes with everything! Complements black, takes on brown tones when it needs to and harmonizes perfectly with all other colors. Who knew? Well, I know now, so thought I’d share and give you another color to pick for your accessories beyond the basic black.  You should try it!
