I came across Mandy Budan’s paintings quite randomly through one of my endless web surfing sessions. That particular session ended right there and then as her work stopped me in my tracks.
The first thing I noticed was the familiar landscape. Mandy hails from Ontario, just a few hours away from my hometown of Montreal. Her collection of shapes and colors perfectly captures the indigenous landscape. I recognized it immediately and delighted in her visual interpretation of the local fauna.
Then, her joyful and captivating use of color. Her colors blend, contrast, clash and harmonize. And while, objectively, they often don’t relate [...]

Simply Effective Advertising

I’m a fan of good advertising campaigns. This one, for Eini & Co Cupcakes (only available in the Toronto, Ontario area, sorry!). I love that, aside from the logo, there is not a single word on the page. The gorgeous images and visual references speak for the product. Makes me yearn for cupcakes and for spring!

Om-bama Poster at Lululemon

I forgot that I had shot this poster in a lululemon window in Evanston, IL just last week. A little less relevant now that we are already almost two weeks past the the inauguration. Still, it’s cute.
I wonder if Barack does any yoga…

Obama-Themed Coffee

To mark the inauguration today, I definitely would have indulged in one of these Obama-themed cups of coffee (free, to top it all!) from Krispy Kreme.
But, why, pray-tell, are these available in the UK and NOT in the US?  That’s just weird, but it’s good to observe that the rest of the world (well, the Brits at least) are celebrating with us.
Still, don’t despair. We can make our own. I have found these Obama stencils (originally for pumpkin carving!) that can be used for the purpose.
Have fun and send pics!!!

New Art-Vertising Commercial for Pritt Correction Rollers

I love this new commercial that features the graphic designer, Michael C. Place of Build, creating this piece which, besides paint, mostly and ingeniously uses the Pritt Correction Roller. Clever way to demonstrate the true ease of use and versatility of this little tool.  I love seeing the artwork developing before my very eyes…

This commercial for another Pritt product from last year is fun AND effective.

Reduce Bottled Water Waste – FilterForGood.com

I’ve blogged about this before ( here and here among some of the posts) and it appears that there is no end in sight with this subject, the heartbreaking and wasteful use of water bottles. This latest campaign is highly visual. You might not be able to read the copy that says “Last year 14 million gallons of oil were consumed to make plastic water bottles”.

What bothers me more than having a hard time reading the copy (and having to think that NO ONE but a two year old drinks out of a water bottle with such spill results),  is [...]
