Turn Your Romance Into Cookies

By Audrey van Petegem, Chief Editor
Here is a great way to say “Will you be mine?” or “You are mine!” this Valentine’s Day.
Baking For Good can transform all those instagram pics you have of each other into sweet treats. Find the best shots of the two of you at your favorite spot or take some up close up and personal pictures of yourselves. Better yet, take some (ahem) photos of just you. Using the instagram filters you can create mini works of art. Send anywhere from one to six photos to Baking For Good and they will turn them into [...]

Candy Cottage for Any Occasion, Season or Rainy Day Activity

By Audrey van Petegem, Senior Editor
Every holiday season the girls and I, with their grandmother, make a gingerbread house. When I started this family tradition, our now 20-year-old son was very young. Grandma and I would make the house from scratch and then he would have the honors of decorating it. Because the enjoyment for the kids was really in the decorating of the house, by the time we had our second child I had started purchasing the gingerbread house kits.
I am now thrilled to see there is an even easier way to continue the tradition with less time, mess [...]

Send a Postcarden for Mother’s Day

By Audrey van Petegem, Senior Editor
Sending mom a Mother’s Day card and/or a bouquet of flowers is a simple way to say that you are thinking of her – particularly if you live far away. Postcarden cleverly combines the beauty of flora with a greeting card creating a simple and inexpensive way to show how much you love your mama.
These pop-out cards transform into mini-living gardens and are available in three designs: Botanical, City and Backyard. Your mom will open and unfold the card, water it and sprinkle the enclosed edible cress seeds onto the damp paper. Within a few [...]

By Audrey van Petegem, Senior Editor
Need that clever gift idea under $10? How about one at just $5? Fiverr is the perfect place to look for stocking stuffers, Secret Santa gifts, humorous office gift exchange and any gift on which you do not want to spend more than $5.00. It’s also a great spot for the young ones in the family to find a little thoughtful or funny gift (most Fiverr ideas are personalized) for their siblings, parents or best friends.
That’s right! Fiverr is a site where people are selling ‘whatever’ (and I do mean whatever) for $5.00. Each gig [...]

These days, we know how special it is to receive a real note card in the mail. Like with a stamp on it. Handwritten and all… It’s even more special if it’s also addressed by hand… And how about if it was personalized with a photo stamp to identify to sender? Even more charming.

Telegrams Make a Comeback. Sort of.

Telegrams used to conjure a feeling of urgency, a demand for complete, undivided attention. With the assault of communication mediums today, is there a single modern method that rivals yesteryear’s telegram as an attention grabber?
The first telegram was sent a little over 150 years ago, when the first 2,500 mile trans-Atlantic cable was installed. Queen Victoria sent a congratulatory telegram to US President Jame Buchanan. It took 16 hours to send in Morse code.
So, though telegram services are still available today, one would believe that they are not so relevant as an option to deliver timely or urgent messages. But, [...]
