MyShape.com – Fun & Efficient Shopping

I just read the Fast Company article on the most influential women in technology. Aside from inspiring factor of the article, I was reminded of the MyShape.com website for which its founder, Louise Wannier was featured under the Entrepreneurs category. Read the Fast Company article HERE.
I had not been on the MyShape.com website in eons. Its latest iteration is fantastic. The concept: the customer enters all her measurements and style preferences and then gets matched up with well fitting clothing in her personal style. The style part is subjective of course! Personally, since I find most stores in my [...]

Turkish Delights Now Available at Anthropologie

Woohoo! I knew I had an eye! I proudly displayed the beautiful handmade jewelry acquired (and since given away as gifts) on a recent trip to Turkey in this article HERE.
Similar necklaces are now available at Anthropologie. At three times the price, bien sur, but at least you don’t have to pay for airfare. And, they are listed on their “Pow! Accessories” page, no less.

I’m taking it as a personal compliment.

Thinking Valentine’s Day Gifts: Jo Malone’s Cologne Collection

I’m in love with this Miniature Cologne Collection that my husband offered me for Christmas. And, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought that this would be a great gift idea for some of the more treasured women in your life. Or you might need to bookmark this for Mother’s Day too.
Jo Malone is now a well known British perfume and fragrance savant. Her fragrance related products are sold in her boutiques around to world as well as in high end retail stores. But her beginnings were modest. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a facialist [...]

Lululemon’s Savasana Wrap Jacket

I’m never taking it off… I was the lucky recipient of this great wrap jacket, a gift from my husband at Christmas. I love the lasting power of all my lululemon pieces, but I not sure how long this one will last as I plan on wearing it non-stop. It’s warm and stretchy and cozy and the funky collar buttons up or down in sometimes very sculptural manners. Comfy AND fun!

See it online here. If you are considering it, move quickly, because I was told that this is the hottest item of the season. Although, if such a popular item, [...]

Jennifer Quinton Handcrafted Jewelry – Mid-Century Modern Inspiration

I thought this was a happy time of year to introduce you to Jennifer Quinton, who’s work I really love. You will quickly see that her jewelry makes for perfect last minute baubles to finish checking off your gift list.

Jennifer Q. (Q for Cutie) was born and raised in California but spent her most important (and creatively formative) years in New York City. While she loved working as a graphic designer in Manhattan, it is only when she moved to Brooklyn that she discovered “home”. Brooklyn is where she first participated in arts & crafts fairs, the first of which [...]

Even More Reason to Buy Toms Shoes…

Toms Shoes is gearing to give away 30,000 pairs of shoes to children in Ethiopia, but they need our help: for every pair purchased, they give a pair away. Here’s my previous blog post on the oh-so-cool Toms Wrap Boots. The last time, I forgot to mention that these are Vegan shoes too!
This video explains why, for health reasons, kids in Ethiopia really, really need to wear shoes.

You can BUY TOMS SHOES HERE or in my Favorite Gifts list (through Amazon.com) in the right column. They have women’s, men’s and children’s sizes and the fab Wrap Boots. GREAT Christmas gift [...]

The TOMS Wrap Boot

OK, by now, I think it’s clear that I have a shoe thing (see here, here and here…). Ok, she who doesn’t can throw the first stone… But, for now, take a look at these fun, colorful and versatile wrap boots from TOMS. They feature an elastic wrap band that extends from the ankle and ties with a velcro closure. The boots are inspired by the brightly colored leg wraps that you will see on very elegant champion horses. No worrying about calf sizes for the fit of this boot and they look super comfortable.

As if you needed extra incentive, [...]

Oilily’s 2008 Collection – “Soft Parade”

Oilily has just unpacked their 2008 fall collection, titled “The Soft Parade”.  As usual, I am falling
hard for a few of the pieces in this collection. As previously declared, Oilily is one of my favorite clothing brands, especially for all the occasions when I don’t need that super office professional look (which is a rare occasion these days). I know that I don’t have to justify myself, but the reasons that I love Oilily – for myself, now that my daughter is too old for the children’s line – are multiple:

I love that the pieces won’t be going out of [...]

Melissa Plastic Shoes: Inspiration through Innovation

Melissa Plastic Dreams is certainly the most fun shoe company I had never heard of! They proclaim to have manufactured over 50 million pairs of shoes over the last 25 years. Huh? Where have I been? Ok, the shoes are made in Brazil and not widely distributed in the US, but still…
Anyhoo, it is assured that, with the posse of top style icons that have recently contributed their designs to the Melissa collections, coupled with the fact that the company is ultra environmentally-friendly, Melissa is definitely a name that will be on every stylista’s lips very soon.
In Melissa’s case, plastic [...]

Turkish Delights – Of the Non Edible Kind

I just came back from Turkey, on an educational school trip organized by my daughter’s school. I’ve long been curious about Turkey and it didn’t disappoint. However, being on an schedule-packed school tour with other parents and students, there certainly wasn’t much time or opportunity for us to go awol to discover fancy restaurants, boutiques and less traveled sites. But still, we were fortunate and privileged to be bathed in the culture, being hosted by a number of Turkish families (fab, fab, fab food and unbelievable hospitality). Thank goodness that we did get to spend a couple of hours in [...]
