Avon’s ANEW Dermabrasion System. It Works!

This product has been on the market for some time now, so I’m not telling you about anything new. But it’s new to me, since I’ve only started using the ANEW Clinical Advanced Dermabrasion System this last November. I went to a holiday home shopping party and walked away with this “gift” for myself. And, with all the positive comments that I’ve received, I thought that it was worth sharing. Well, actually the particular convincing comment was the one at the self-checkout counter the other day. I was running all my grocery items through the scanner when the system alerted [...]

CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain – Fun Lip Marker

I wrote about the Bourjois Lip Stain Pen almost two years ago, an almost identical product to the CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain. I loved wearing it and was disappointed when I noticed that I could not replenish the discontinued product. So, I was curious when I saw that CoverGirl had very recently released an almost indistinguishable version: the Outlast Lipstain.
The Outlast Lipstain, just as the Bourjois version, is easily applied like a marker (it is a marker tip) that transfers a lightweight flush of color without the heavy look or feel of regular lip lipstick.
The product’s claims that it lasts 6 [...]

Lancôme’s Cils Booster XL Mascara Base – Love it!

I got this product from my mom as part of my Christmas loot. Whatever she gives me, I always like the surprises and introduction to products I would not necessarily be buying myself.
I’ve tried other “dual” mascaras with mascara bases before – I don’t even remember which brand – and promptly gave up on the idea after I realized that the results were hardly noticeable. Just not worth the effort or the cost. The Lancôme’s Cils Booster, however, is a totally different story.
I’ve been using the Cils Booster XL base under my tried-and-true L’Oréal Voluminous mascara for the last few [...]

The Real “No More Tears” for Hair – The Orbit Brush Detangles Hair in Under 3 Minutes!

OMG!!! I just bought one of these Orbit Brushes. Anyone who has a little girl, even one with straight hair, knows that brushing their hair can start the morning off on the very, very, very wrong foot. Which is why you see so many little girls with birds’ nests in their hair. A bird’s nest is preferable, by far, to the tears and screaming that come from detangling hair. A thankless and time consuming job if there ever was one.
Inventor (savior!) George Stydahar  is the creator of the patent-pending OrbitBrush, a hairbrush that promises to painlessly brush out tangled hair [...]

Maybelline’s Superstay™ Lipcolor – Really Stays On

I have certainly tried my fair share of pseudo long-lasting lipsticks and lipcolors over the years . I always found them to be just…ok. And, I should also mention painful! (Remember Lip Sense from Sene Gence???? Ouch!) These so called long-lasting colors would last through a cocktail hour and then part of a meal. They never did make it through the promised 14, 16, 18 hours. Instead, when I needed to reapply, I always found that the initial layer would trigger a whole unpleasant “peeling off” effect. Not fun.
Undaunted, and still looking for that true long-lasting solution, I’m happy to [...]

Shu Uemura Tokyo Lash Bar Collection – Fashion for You Eyes

I’m feeling a little ambivalent about these. Or is it that I’m feeling too old? Although I would not be wearing these myself, I think that they are kind of fun. I can see that women in Tokyo would have no problems wearing these on the street. This might actually be tame for many of them… The Shu Uemura lash bars have been around for a couple of years, but these lashes are bringing it to a whole new level.

Let’s see where this trend goes, if anywhere…

M.A.C Cosmetics Lipstick in Twig. Can’t live without it

I have been wearing the M.A.C Twig lipstick  (soft muted brownish pink in satin finish) for about 14 or 15 years. That’s my low estimate. It’s my perfect neutral lipstick that actually has color. Or the effect of color? Or the effect of neutral? Either way, I came to the clear realization this morning that I cannot live without this color. I have been resisting it in the last couple of years. You know, because I’m afraid of looking like the old lady walking around with the same pale blue eyeshadow that she’s been wearing since1972. No one tells her [...]

O-Glow by Smashbox — Too much fun!

I ordered this product from Sephora after reading about it in some magazine or another. Although I love my Mac blush, after 25 years or so of using some color variation or another of Mocha, I needed to try something NEW!!! The O-glow is like playing. Or rather, do you remember applying makeup to your Barbie Styling Head? That’s what it feels like. The O-Glow color just glides on, darkens to a strawberry pink as you first dab it on and then smooths out as you spread the color. It’s very forgiving in that it’s not a stain and you [...]
