Food, Inc. Know Where Your Dinner Comes From

Eric Schlosser’s Fast Food Nation (2001) book really got me started in 2001 (read excerpts here). Hardly walked into a McD again unless under extreme duress (when there were NO better choices. It happens). It was the eye-opener that I needed. I’m afraid that Food, Inc. might just push me over the edge and I’ll become a fanatical activist. Still, we should all be informed about a product that determines our survival, don’t you think?
Food, Inc. is now showing in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco with wider release starting next week. I’ll get to see it in a [...]

Hello Vino Tells You What’s Best to Drink

HelloVino.com is a wine pairing and suggestion tool that will make wine (or bubbly) recommendations by occasions, meals, taste or regionial preferences. This handy little service can be accessed – entirely free – from the Web or from your mobile device (Hello Vino supports, Blackberry, iPhone, Nokia, Palm and others).
And, should you not have Internet access on your phone, you can always use the Text messaging service: text the word “Hellovino” to 368266 that will trigger a question & answer exchange to get you to find the right wine. Seems like they thought of everything not to leave us stranded.
It’s [...]

The Real “No More Tears” for Hair – The Orbit Brush Detangles Hair in Under 3 Minutes!

OMG!!! I just bought one of these Orbit Brushes. Anyone who has a little girl, even one with straight hair, knows that brushing their hair can start the morning off on the very, very, very wrong foot. Which is why you see so many little girls with birds’ nests in their hair. A bird’s nest is preferable, by far, to the tears and screaming that come from detangling hair. A thankless and time consuming job if there ever was one.
Inventor (savior!) George Stydahar  is the creator of the patent-pending OrbitBrush, a hairbrush that promises to painlessly brush out tangled hair [...]

Don’t Give Bad Gifts – A Doghouse Story (video)

All great stereotypes of husbands as bad gift-givers represented here. I’m guessing that women wrote this script? ‘Cause men are hating this video.  Thankfully, my husband doesn’t even come close to falling into one of these categories.

Danielle Aubert’s Excel Art — Amazing!

I am always in awe of these creative souls that can take something so seemingly banal (in this case, an Excel spreadsheet) and create art from it.
What a great gift idea for the person who is working in Excel spreadsheets all day! Danielle Aubert definitely gives a whole new, colorful perspective. It seems that the book is available at Project no. 8 with a limited edition of 350 copies. Seems like there is not time to waste. Hurry!
