Crystal Light’s Guilt-Free Cocktails

Sure, we try hard to be as health conscious as possible, but when Audrey and I get together, cocktails abound (thankfully, Audrey is 2000 miles away, so our martini abuse is not so frequent). And, Audrey will be here next week. Martini glasses are sure to be put in use. Unfortunately for us, now that we are both trying to fit our not-so-young bodies into little bathing suits, caloric intake counts. It’s painful to admit, but a regular mojito will cost us about 200 calories, a margarita about 325 calories and an appletini about 175 calories. With zero nutritional value, bien sûr.

So, when I received a sample of Crystal Light mocktails in Appletini and Margarita – at FIVE calories per serving – I was happy to give it a test drive. Though I usually shy away from artificial sweeteners (aspartame in this case) and food coloring, I will immediately admit that these drink mixes will completely satisfy taste buds of the calorie-counting gal. Spike with one ounce of vodka or tequila for about 70 calories and you’re saving galore calories and on sugar intake. I can deal with the artificial additives on the rare occasions when a good cocktail is called for. Like next week when Audrey is here. Ahem. To note, these mocktails are a great offering for those non-drinkers among us who are looking for more exciting flavors with a “party vibe”.

It appears that the Crystal Light Mocktails are only available for a short period of time (70 more days) but they are now readily available at your grocer or big box store. Stock up now!

And on the caloric/sugar intake note, you will want to beware of well-marketed products such as the pre-mixed SkinnyGirl™ Margarita. This blogger’s analysis explains that it’s not really what you think. And, “all natural” does not mean “less calories”.

And, it appears that I may be a new Crystal Light convert. I hadn’t touched the stuff until just a few months ago when I accidentally discovered their Crystal Light Pure flavors that contains no artificial sweeteners, flavors or preservatives. These taste great and the flavor helps me keep up my water intake (not a natural thing for me).

Great choices. No guilt.

Where can I buy Crystal Light Guilt Free Mocktails. I live in Cheyenne, WY, and have looked at Albertsons, King Soopers, Target and Walmart, but to no avail. Can I order this product online? Thank you for your help.

Same here in Oklahoma and nothing. A friend of mine had me try the Appletini while in Texas last week and I feel in love. If I had known they would be so hard to come by would of bought all I could and bring them home.

Ladies, We got a response on Facebook. Crystal Light is pointing us to their “notes” tab on their Facebook page where they have updated a list of retailers. Try this link: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150210106779077. Let us know if that helps!

I’ve tried Walmart and Shoprite without success. I called Marc’s and they haven’t heard of it either (all 3 places where on the list of the notes tab on the facebook page).

I had called Kraft earlier today. After being placed on hold for a while, I was told they cannot tell me where this product was delivered in any location.

This whole thing sounds like a disaster.

OMG! I finally found the illusive Crystal Light Mocktails (at ShopRite in Clinton CT). Haven’t tried Mojito yet but did try the other two. Appletini was good (tried it alone and then with a tiny splash of vodka). Tasted good both ways. Then tried the Margarita (no alcohol). Really does taste like a margarita.

I’m amazed how these taste like there is alcohol in them. Don’t think I will be drinking these too early in the day since they taste like real cocktails LOL but very happy I found them.

These are being marketed as mocktails and they are very good on their own but think they would also make a good mixer for cocktails with alcohol if you want to lose the sugary calories of typical mixers.

Just a warning to those in search of these mixes, when I found them in ShopRite they were in a short cardboard display case in a very obscure spot, not at all where I would’ve expected. So please do ask when you get to the store, you may otherwise miss it.

Thanks for the heads up Diane! And sooooo glad you finally found them. Seems like it was worth the hunt!

I think I’ll be cracking open the Margarita flavor again tonight. With a splash of tequila, per favor!
