Daily Whisper: Nurturing Words & Dolls
Full disclosure. Barbara, creator of Daily Whisper
, and I are friends. But I want to make it clear that I’m not featuring her work here just because she is really nice and pretty and funny nor because I owe her too many favors. Nope.
Barbara and I met about 8 years ago when we got together, along with two other women, on a weekly basis to conduct our own workshop based on the “Heart’s Desire” book by Sonia Choquette. It was an incredible experience. If we didn’t know each other before this exercise, we certainly got to know everything about each other by the time we had completed the 9 week workshop. Even then, The Succulent Wife was already very clearly part of my heart’s desire. For Barbara, it was Daily Whisper, under another name and with a slightly different perspective but still with the same fundamental concept: developing products that encourage positive thinking and provide a new way of presenting affirmations.
Now, a few years and life chapters later, Barbara has rekindled her heart’s desire, aptly named Daily Whisper. At the moment, her brand spanking new product line (constantly being added to) focuses on young, preschool aged children, the most receptive but overlooked market segment for positive thinking “training”. While we like to think that children are naturally happy and joyful, parents and educators know well that boosting their self-love and self-confidence is always an appropriate move. Which is why I think that Daily Whisper’s Fleecie dolls are so fantastic.
The Fleecie Dolls, pillowy versions of suns, flowers and stars are adorable and colorful and snuggly and squishy. But, in a unique Daily Whisper-esque twist, they come with a selection of three affirmation cards. These are worded and illustrated just for kids, neatly tucked in a pocket on the back of the doll:“I am a shining star”, “I am happy with myself”, “My family loves me”… Barbara’s customers tell her again and again of the wonderful impact that these messages have on the younger kids, of how good they feel when they absorb the affirmations uniquely delivered by the dolls.
In the meanwhile, Barbara is just feeling gratified that she gets to share her core message, that we create our own happiness. One is never too young to start learning that truth.
You can follow Daily Whisper on Facebook where Barbara unearths daily quotes and thoughts, as appropriate for adults as they are for kids. Her shops are open on 1000Markets and on Etsy.
BTW, these would make a great gift for a child that is overcoming or recovering from difficulties of any sort, physical or emotional. Positive words for a positive outlook.

I am so excited for Barbara and I love her messages. In fact, I have given them to a dear friend of mine who has elementary school age children. My kids love them and actually have put an order in for a few dolls for Barbara to make. So we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
My best to you both!
