Face Stick Organic Sunblock by Eco Lips

ecolips-logoWith summer right around the corner, I’m happy to have just discovered the handiest little skin protector that offers SPF 30 sun protection that not only blocks harmful UV rays, but also moisturizes and heals dry skin.   The product in question is Face Stick by Eco Lips.

I have always struggled to find the right sunscreen for my 5 year old daughter, Thea.  She has had eczema since birth and tends to flare up with most ecolips-face-stickover-the-counter skin products.  Finding the right sunscreen for her is always a challenge.  The Face Stick contains 82% certified organic ingredients (making it the most organic sunscreen on the market), including organic sunflower, jojoba and coconut oils along with organic aloe vera and calendula.  All are great ingredients for the skin.  I bought a couple of Face Sticks at a local Whole Foods Market.    The Eco Lips Face Stick comes in a .15-ounce tube with a suggested retail price of $7.49 without Eco Clip or $8.99 with Eco Clip.  I decided to get one for my purse and one with the Eco Clip for my teenage son, so he can clip it onto his backpack when he heads to the beach.  When I took an impromptu detour to the beach with my daughters the other day, I was thankful I had put the Face Stick in my purse.  I put it on both my daughter’s lips, nose, face and ears and then I put it on myself.  I was impressed with the non-greasy, fragrance-free, smooth and even application it gave. And with the great sun protection!

What I like about the Eco Lips company is that their products are handcrafted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and that the company is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of pesticide-free organic products. Their Face Stick is the most organic sunscreen on the market.   Each time you buy one of their products know that:

  • Family farms that practice sustainable methods of farming without the use of pesticides and herbicides are supported.
  • With their 1% for the earth program, more money can be allocated towards environmentally and socially responsible  organizations.
  • Organic sales will increase which can change the purchasing habits of retail stores and consumers.
  • You are making a BIG difference to a SMALL business rather than a SMALL difference to a BIG corporation.

Check out www.Ecolips.com for their full line of products and  to find a retailer near you.  U

UPDATE: Ecolips has just let us know that they will offer 15% off all orders through their website until May 31, 2009. Simply enter coupon code succulentwife09 at checkout.  Woot!

I bought the Made from Earth Rosehip & Hibiscus face serum at my local Whole Foods supermarket and was skeptical about it becaue it didnt seem so expensive at $20 for a face cream. I read the back of the bottle and it claimed to smooth skin and clear without drying. I was looking for a “glowing, balanced complexion” and it was exactly what I got! I’ve been using it for two weeks and here’s what I think so far:
Pros – Leaves skin feeling really clean and smooth, has a great pump dispenser. A little bit of the serum definitelt goes a long way. There is a great light scent, which I think comes from the hibiscus. It also helped a cystic pimple heal and it is actually fading dark spots and giving me an even compexion (In just two weeks!)
Cons – Since the serum is so powerful, you dont really need to use it everyday. A moisturizer should be used daily. The serum can be used every other day. . .
I have since decided to purchase on the website, because in the Whole Foods they are way more expensive…i think of the madefromearth website its only $14….well worth it…

What a lovely little product. You don’t see many organic sunscreens (even this one isn’t 100%) so a product like this is a blessing for those with skin problems.
