Fashion Craving: Oxblood

By Anne-Marie Kovacs, Chief Wife amk wearing CAbi

Oxblood is a rather ominous name for such a beautiful color, isn’t it? But we can call it whatever we want. Oxblood (this season’s name) is aka burgundy, wine, maroon or garnet… It appears that I can’t get enough of it.

It all started when I picked out this outfit – that you see me wearing here at left – to attend the #exploringCAbi event. I had been ogling the color since last season and now that I’ve been wearing it, I find myself looking out for it everywhere.

The deep blackish red is simply sumptuous. Regal even. And powerful. At least, that’s what I feel when I’m wearing it. And energized too. So, it’s no wonder I’ve been craving it. It’s with this new color obsession that I went “shopping” on Polyvore and put together this wish board inspired by the original CAbi outfit. OK, so some items are more approachably priced than others… But they’re all styles that a 50+ woman can wear confidently to feel vibrant. And powerful. Yeah, I know I said that already.

Let me know what you think!

Looks good on you! I remember my mother having the most gorgeous shoes and handbag in oxblood in the 70s.

  2. That amazing motorcycle jacket (need to find the knock-off version), the cuff bracelet (Etsy & affordable) and that pencil skirt – please, please, me, me!

Any color named after a glass of wine (in this case merlot) has got to be good, no?
