Feast and Famine – If We Get to Feast, Let’s Help Those That Go Hungry (Food Banks)

My family will be feasting on special treats and elaborate meals over the next few days. thought that it was high time that I start thinking of those who will not have such an opportunity. At this time of year or any other…

So, I’m thankful to have just learned about the Three Square agency (as in three square meals a day, get it?). The Three Square Food Bank is a national model project based right here in the Las Vegas Valley. Their mission: “To provide wholesome food for hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger free community”.  This is combined with a vision that no one in our community should be hungry.

It’s hard to believe that in the land of excess that is Las Vegas, four out of ten students (117,000 school children) are hungry and 210,000 men, women and children living in poverty and struggle to put food on their table.

I donated. Had I known of this organization earlier, I would also have put ThreeSquare.org on my volunteering list during the holiday break. I will have to find an opportunity to do so in the spring.

If you are looking for an agency in your area, check out the Feeding America website. I think that they need our help now more than ever.

In gratitude for all that I have, I wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, or whatever you are celebrating this season. Cheers!!!
