Hello Vino Tells You What’s Best to Drink
HelloVino.com is a wine pairing and suggestion tool that will make wine (or bubbly) recommendations by occasions, meals, taste or regionial preferences. This handy little service can be accessed – entirely free – from the Web or from your mobile device (Hello Vino supports, Blackberry, iPhone, Nokia, Palm and others).
And, should you not have Internet access on your phone, you can always use the Text messaging service: text the word “Hellovino” to 368266 that will trigger a question & answer exchange to get you to find the right wine. Seems like they thought of everything not to leave us stranded.
It’s always tricky to pick a wine to go with a salad, so I was curious to see what suggestion Hello Vino would come up with for a citrus salad (double whammy hard to pair a wine with that). A series of Sauvignon Blanc wines were recommended. I’m pretty sure that I agree with that, but will HAVE to try it to be certain.
And here I digress, but I love their phonetic spelling of the wine types. In case you were wondering, Sauvignon Blanc should be pronounced SOH-vee-nyawn BLAHNGK. If you are American, that is. If you want to say it the “French” way, you would say SOH-vee-nyaw BLAHNG, omitting the “n” sound at the end of Sauvignon, and the “k” sound at the end of Blanc. Let’s try a ZIHN-fuhn-dehl? Or perhaps a DOM perry-YOHN?
I think that this is a particularly handy tool when one might find themselves “stuck” in a wine shop with hundreds of bottles to choose. Hello Vino will help make the wine selection based on occasion or to pair with dinner.
I’ll toast to that!
