MAC and Hello Kitty Team Up in Perfect Kitschness
MAC Cosmetics has been my makeup brand of preference for about 19 years now (hummmm, maybe even longer, let’s see..). I love their “out there” attitude and loudness. And I love their choice of unconventional spokespeople like RuPaul, Dita von Teese, Dame Edna, and now another pop culture character, Hello Kitty. Plus they always seem to be behind a good cause like their MAC AIDS Fund and environmental and community programs like cruelty-free makeup products, child abuse and protection of the environment through recycling.
The latest is the recent partnership with Hello Kitty that supports The Fashion Institute of Technology Acquisition Fund, which allows the museum to acquire garments for its permanent collection. I didn’t even know that FIT had a museum. I need to check that out on my next visit to NYC. MAC Cosmetics has launched a collection based on the Hello Kitty theme. Internationally renowned designers were invited to create one-of-a-kind pieces to auction for the fund raising. Among them, Elie Saab, Zac Posen, Marchesa, Catherine Malandrino and Hervé Léger.
You can bid on any of the 31 outfits on eBay HERE. All bids started at $200 but some exquisite dresses such as the Shu-Chi Huang dress are trending for high bids . The benefit auction is open until February 19 at 19:20 PST. I’m hoping to get my hands on the Tadashi Shoji dress just so that I can create an occasion to wear it. Let’s bid!
