Pretty Green Plantable Note Cards

22 April 2009 2 Comments

A little something to underscore Earth Day today and to celebrate a back-to-basics idea of sending someone a handwritten note. And one that will grow at that! Here are some great makers of plantable papers:

botanical-paperworks Botanical Paperworks is a classic. They’ve been making plantable papers since 1995. We particularly love the Yummy Cards set that will grow basil, chive, parsley, dill, sage and mint. Each card includes a recipe (mint tea) for the featured herb. $19.95 per box of 6 cards.

While you are on their site, you will want to take a look at their books & journals.

porridge-papersWe found this adorable plantable little pillow box by Porridge Paper on Etsy. You can check out their main website to see their “super natural” collections of hand made papers, including the “super fresh” scented papers.

This box $3. Perfect for inserting precious and thoughtful little gifts.

green-field-paper-company As the Green Field Paper Company says, “you can grow these cards”. The cards are made with their handmade Grow-a-Note seed embedded paper. Keep the paper moist and watch it sprout. This elegant design come in a 5 card pack for $13.95.

They also offer a collection of hemp papers, wrapping papers and an assortment of all sorts of other handmade papers.

round-robin-pressAnother Etsy seller, Round Robin Press offers her designs on plantable cards printed on handmade reycled papers. We like. These particular note cards are imbedded with chives and dill seeds. Yes, we like a lot.

Set of 8 cards for $32.00.

bloomin2The Bloomin’ Flower Cards company also started in 1995. They manufacture earth-friendly, handmade, seeded greeting cards made from 100% post-consumer paper, soy-based inks, and organic pigments. And great new designs too!

This single card, $4.95.
