The Essential Gift for Little Girls

With two little girls in preschool, we seem to attend a lot of playdates. And these playdates invariably turn into birthday party invitations. So, I am always on the lookout for fun gifts to stock the gift closet, ready at a moment’s notice, when one of my girls gets an invitation. I came across these beautiful tutus made by Kiwi Industries while shopping at a local Laguna Beach children’s store the other day.  The playful and colorful tutus are adorned with satin rose petals in the layers of tulle and a wide satin ribbon with a lovely rose on the front.  They all come beautifully packaged in a reusable organza bag. A classic, dreamy gift for little girls, ready for gift-giving.

What I loved even more about the product is the story that I read on the attached card. Kiwi Industries states that “…natural, organic and recycled fibers are used to create classic designs with a modern, graphic twist. Production is in a sweatshop-free environment in the USA or in a small knitting cooperative in South America”. Now, this looked like a company I would want to support.  So I purchased a tutu and went home to learn more from their website: The tutus are made locally at a collaborative that provides its workers with living wages and on-site childcare. Kiwi Industries also prints on recycled paper and offers reusable packaging when possible. Their 2009 Fall Collection will be 100% Organic.  Tutus with a conscience? Wow, now this is one way to shop guilt-free!  Time to stock up!
