Turning 50 – Countdown to My High School Reunion: What to Wear

Okay, I know this is going to sound vain but I want to look my best for my upcoming high school reunion. It is like Facebook – we want to be seen in the most positive light.

It will be 32 years since I have seen most of my high school buddies and I am really looking forward to this reunion of us all turning 50. Part of me wants to reconnect with some of my long lost friends and part of me is just curious to see what people look like and to know what they are doing now. Does the hottest girl in my class still look hot? Will I recognize everyone? And on my part, I want the boy that dumped me to recognize me. And yes, wonder what could have been. The bottom line is, we all want to look our best for a reunion. Some will join Weight Watchers. Some will get Botox. I am no different.

My dilemma is what to wear. I have a dress that I love. I have worn it on many formal occasions. Sadly, I almost put it in the Goodwill pile last year because it is sleeveless and, at my age (gasp) I don’t do sleeveless anymore. Then, just by chance, I sat beside a women at the 2011 Reinvention Convention who had the same issue as me. Ruthann Greenblat, however, did more than take all her strapless and sleeveless to Goodwill. She came up with a solution to cover her bare arms. Hence, the Sleevey Wonder was born. As for my reunion I am set! Although Facebook has taken some of the surprises out of seeing people you have not seen in a long time, there is still nothing like sitting down with an, shall I say, old friend and picking up where you left off! I am sure that there will be some secrets and surprises that await me.
