WellnessMats: Give Your Feet, Knees and Back a Rest

I know that I have mentioned this before but I’m a strong believer (an advocate even) in the theory that “Sitting Will Kill You”. For me, it wasn’t a lifestyle choice. About two years ago, I found that sitting (which I did ALL DAY in front of my computer) had become intolerable. First, it was the foam in my chair that started to “burn” me (allergic reaction, I guess). When that happened, I switched to a mesh chair, no foam. No burning but the framework of the chair was cutting me behind the knees and the whole sitting position became just too uncomfortable. I then explored sitting on a ball. That was fun for about 20 minutes. So really, my only solution was to stand.  I first wrote about my migration to a standing desk here.

So, indeed, I now work at a standing desk and though the pain of sitting has been circumvented, standing for hours is still not a walk in the park… The transition wasn’t so easy. The first couple of weeks, there was pretty bad lower back pain and fatigue in my legs. I remedied that with these very simple exercises. But then, plantar fasciitis made frequent appearances and standing was just not working anymore.

So, I turned to the WellnessMats, of which I ordered two, one for me and one for my husband (who also now has a standing desk). It’s like standing on air.

WellnessMats is an anti-fatigue flooring solution that is designed to provide relief to people who stand for long hours. Think of on-the-job chefs, TSA workers, line workers, hairstylists. Or at home, think of people cooking, crafting or hobbying. We know that standing on our feet for long periods on a hard surface causes fatigue, aches, and pains. The WellnessMats provide a nice sturdy yet cushy surface that makes standing for long periods much easier.

The WellnessMats help to reduce the impact that long periods of standing can have on the legs, knees and back. They also help improve circulation, reduce back stress and decrease fatigue as they ”provide a gentle ‘rebound’ and buoyancy which encourages subtle movement of leg and calf muscles promoting better circulation reducing fatigue, aches & pain.” That’s how that works.

The mats are made with the company’s proprietary Advanced Polyurethane Technology (APT) and are guaranteed for 7 years; they are easy to clean and dirt resistant and should never delaminate, punture (think heels!) or slide. Plus, the mats can be enhanced with design covers to coordinate with your decor or with the seasons.

Floating Standing on the Wellness Mats takes a few days to get used to, but it has definitely made my standing more comfortable and even enjoyable! My husband agrees.

Check out WellnessMats.

I love this product. Everything you say is true. However, if you order it from WellnesMats.com they charge shipping. It’s the same price at Amazon, free shipping.

I also made the change to standing desks earlier this year. I use the wellness mats along with some really good supportive shoes. It’s all good.
